Full Job Description

A position for Gate Official is currently available within Table Mountain National Park. The selected candidate will report directly to the relevant Line Manager. It’s important to note that no official accommodation is provided, so applicants must arrange their own housing in the area.

Minimum Requirements

To be eligible for this Gate Official position in South Africa, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

Job Responsibilities

The Gate Official will play a critical role in ensuring secure, efficient, and welcoming entry to the park. The responsibilities include:

  • Managing and resolving minor conflicts at the park entrance.
  • Providing accurate and detailed information to guests regarding park rules, facilities, and conservation efforts.
  • Guarding the entrance gate and preventing unauthorized access or removal of park property.
  • Checking credentials and permits before allowing entry.
  • Managing traffic flow in and out of park premises.
  • Directing guests and delivery trucks to appropriate park sections.
  • Carrying out light maintenance duties, such as sweeping gate areas and mowing lawns.
  • Recording arrival and departure times for both employees and visitors.
  • Performing general administrative duties including handling of payments.
  • Issuing and receiving keys for accommodation units outside reception hours.

Remuneration Package

The position falls under Paterson Grade B3. The total compensation includes:

  • Basic Salary aligned with SANParks salary scale for Grade B3 positions.
  • Additional allowances and benefits as outlined in the official Conditions of Service of SANParks.
